These will help you when you try to compare one time is history to another. Knowing these dates also helps when you try to connect an event with another important event. 

1492 - Columbus Lands

1605 - Sante Fe Founded

1607 - Jamestown Founded

1619 - First African Servants

1620 - Pilgrims Land

1733 - Georgia Founded (Last of 13 colonies)

1763 - Treaty of Paris (End of French and Indian War)

1776 - Declaration of Independence

1783 - Treaty of Paris (Britian recognizes independence)

1787 - Constitutional Convention

1789 - Federal Government Begins

1793 - Whiney Invents Cotton Gin

1800 - Jefferson Elected

1808 - Slave Importation Illegal

1812 - War of 1812 (2nd War or Independence)

1820 - Missouri Compromise

1823 - Monroe Doctrine

1828 - Andrew Jackson Elected

1846 - War with Mexico

1848 - Seneca Falls Convention

1849 - Gold Rush in Caifornia

1850 - Compromise of 1850

1854 - Kansas - Nebraska Act

1860 - Election of Lincoln

1861 - Civil War Begins

1862 - Emancipation Proclamation (Although it's not set into place until 1863)

1865 - Civil War Ends and Lincoln Assassinated

1908 - First Model-T Ford

1914 - WWI Begins in Europe

1917 - US enters WWI

1919 - Treaty of Versailles (WWI settlement)

1920 - 19th Amendment Ratified (women sufferage)

1929 - Stock Market Crash on Black Tuesday

1933 - Worst Year Depression and FDR becomes President

1939 - WWII Begins in Europe

1941 - Pearl Harbor and US enters WWII

1950 - Korean War Begins

1954 - Brown vs. Board of Education

1963 - Kennedy Assinated

1968 - Tet Offencive
