Tips For The Class

Before the Class Starts

It is a good idea to buy an AP United States History review book before you start the class. These book usually have helpful tips on how to take notes, how to study, and other tidbits that will help you throughout the how class.

Reading Tips

I definately recommend trying to read and take notes every day. Taking notes on about 5-8 pages every night will definately pay off. I took my notes in outline form, but other people just jotted down facts that they concidered to be important. Just stick to what you'll be able to understand both then and later on when your reviewing.

Another tip is to take your time reading if possible. Reading fast just to get it done is not always the best. If you ponder the effects of what is going on and also try to relate it to other parts of history, you'll get a better understanding of what is happening and why.

Another tip is look back every once in a while. DO NOT TRY TO CRAM! It's way more stressful.Run through the Terms to Know page every once in a while and see if you remember any other related evidence or facts that I didn't put on there. Take some practise tests or quizes online as a refresher. You can find some on the Other Links page. Stuff that you've already gone over can also help you in class. Teachers are ALWAYS impressed if you can compare events from past to evenets that you're studing at present.
